Sitting down. My worst enemy.

I pick the kids up from school every day and when I get home I find that sometimes I’ll straight away start doing certain jobs, dishwasher, starting tea, getting snacks etc and before I know it 2 hours has passed and I haven’t sat down once… and I’ve been incredibly productive and my mood has very decent!

Other times, I’ll sit down as soon as I get home and the sound of “Daddy, will you get me…” and honestly they might as well have asked me to climb Everest. Which, of course, brings incredible guilt!

No advice requested, no advice being given, just an observation and a “can anyone relate?”

TL;DR - stimulant medication doesn’t seem to be working. Moving to none stimulant. Can anyone relate?

So I started on Medikinet and I’m not sure what dosage I reached before deciding it doesn’t work for me. Went on to Elvanse and reached the top dose of 70mg and I did not notice any difference. I spoke to my prescriber during titration and told her that this wasn’t surprising for me, I turned vegan overnight and people said “I bet you feel loads better!” And I felt the same. I went from drinking 60 units of alcohol minimum a week, often more to drinking zero units and people said “I bet you feel loads better!” And I felt the same. I have always struggled to understand how I feel, sometimes I believe that I have never experienced stress then sometimes I wonder if actually I’m the most stressed person alive, I wouldn’t know! She said that my scores in the questionnaires showed that my symptoms were affecting me less and so it looked like the mediation was working.

Fast forward to a year on 70mg Elvanse and i am really struggling with motivation/executive function. I have stopped my favourite hobby (cycling) because I just can’t get out of the door and also I found it incredibly annoying that the Elvanse ruined my coffee habit!

So after speaking to my GP he said to give the mediation a miss for a few days and see if it was indeed having a positive impact that I would only notice when it’s gone.

Nope. I feel exactly the same.

I’m now on the waiting list for none-stimulant medication. Does anyone have any experience with switching after feeling little to no impact on stimulant medication?
