I was paying WAY too much for ATT, so I switched phone carriers not knowing about ATT's cancelation policy. I knew i'd have to pay for what I had used and I was fine with that, however I was not aware that I would have to pay for almost an entire month I did NOT use.

I switched carriers with a paid off phone but the new carrier was offering a promotion where if I stayed for 24 months I'd get a credit on my bill for the amount of the monthly payment on the phone. Not free, but not paying for it so long as I stay 24 months. Husband is active duty military and goes overseas, and this carrier has the cheapest international plan so I know we're staying with them anyway. Sign up, order the new phone, and the new phone arrives 2 days after my ATT billing cycle resets so I get everything set up on the new phone then call ATT that day.

I am naturally anticipating being told hey you still will have a balance for the previous month due, and you're going to have a prorated amount due the following month for the 2 days you had service. That is not what I was told. I'd still have to pay for the previous month at the end of this month, and next month I will have to pay for a full month of service that I only used for 2 days.

Has anyone ever run into this and been able to successfully get them to prorate it? I saw a 4 year old post on the subreddit saying they were told to call after the last months billing cycle and they prorated it, but since its 4 years old I'd figure I'd ask to see if anyone had figured something out more recently. My post got denied on the ATT thread. I really cannot afford to pay $55 for my new line AND $95 to ATT for a month I did not use them.
