Just learned it

Most people don't even understand how incredibly happy I am about this, but I know y'all can relate, but i just learned how to burp!!!!

After 42 years, holy crap! This subreddit made me feel that I was not alone in my struggle, so thank you! After finding this subreddit about a year ago?, I read through all the techniques and the botox procedure but what really worked for me was developing an active awareness of my neck/throat muscles. I don't know how to explain it but the only way I was able to release air through my throat BEFORE was by physically activating my gag reflex (*sorry this might be gross to hear) using my fingers. So before doing the expensive Botox treatment, I wanted to make a serious try at learning. I made a serious effort to jot all the instances that might be related to my ability to release pressure from my throat. I've noticed that it's much easier to release the air when my head is slightly tilted downwards. So everyday, whenever I feel that air build up and start going up my esophagus, I would trigger that gag reflex but THIS TIME without using my fingers but just my throat muscles and looking down a bit. I practiced moving my neck/throat muscles forwards, up, down etc... also I imagined manipulating the shape of my throat. Sounds weird I know but bear with me: I imagine my throat hole was a perfect circle when it's relaxed, but when I "flex" it, I imagine making the shape more of an oval, elongated instead of a circle. To my surprise, I was able to release a small burp at first!!! It worked only a few times at first and I had to really time it right when I felt the air near the top of my throat. During the first week I averaged about 5-10 mini burps a day. Then it probably went up to 20x. Now I just burp all the time. Actually, I've even accidentally burped loudly during a meeting and it was embarrassing but I didn't care anymore because I'm so happy and proud 😂

My stomach feels so much better now and I feel so much better and lighter. I can drink carbonated stuff and eat more of the foods that I like without feeling so full so quickly. Y'all know the struggle and I'm sorry. This has been truly life changing for me and I'm so happy. I'm still in disbelief that it actually happened for me. I hope it happens for you all too. I just wanted to share that. ❤️
