I got diagnosed with POTS 6 months ago and the medication I’ve been on helps a little bit.

I’ve been through all the neurology tests and scans and all the cardiac tests. I even got an internal cardiac monitor placed in my chest. After receiving phone calls every day about my heart rate being high, asking what I was doing, and an ep study, they decided to refer me to a passive standing test and tilt table test. I failed with flying colors and got diagnosed.

While the medication helps, I still get phone calls about my damn heart rate. How on earth do I get it down? I deal with the purple hands and feet, lightheadedness, nausea and so forth but there’s nothing more uncomfortable for me than feeling my heart race.

What do you do that helps calm your heart down? I consume lots of salt and water and follow the classic stuff they tell you to do but I still struggle.

It’s gotten to the point where I can no longer tolerate mountain biking. I did it every day but I can’t handle it anymore. They say exercise helps but how am I supposed to get the amount of exercise they say when I can barely handle walking to the bathroom some days?
