I recently was assessed for perfectionism with a therapist and psychiatrist and I scored pretty high. A lot of my perfectionism likely stems from childhood trauma having emotionally immature and somewhat abusive parents.
Im curious for people with a somewhat similar background, what did you find most helpful to start addressing your perfectionism?
I am starting to talk about it in therapy, which is making me more mindful of my destructive behaviors. It is making me sad to see how much a lot of my emotional struggles have been tied to perfectionism. It’s nice to find a community online.
