For Anking users suspending after Step 1

Ive seen theres two things people have done:

  1. Suspend using this in browse: tag:#AK\_Step1\_v12 -tag:#AK\_Step2\_v12
  2. Suspend the "Step 1 only tag" in tag:#AK\_Other

Is there a reason why method 1 suspends ~9k cards while method 2 suspends 16,587 total cards for me?

I even checked the 16k list and removed the cards I hadn't done yet from the count, but that still leaves me with removing ~12k versus the ~9k from method 1.

Does anyone know the reason why? 3k is not much in grand scheme but also yeah it is.

Any explanations would be appreciated, and what method you went with.

Ankiweb sync did something to my anking deck after resetting my computer back to factory

So In short, I rebooted my computer to factory settings as it was all clustered.

I had the anking deck synced previously, with ankihub, and know for a fact it was synced many times the past 2 weeks, because I have been backlogged from step prep, and open and closed anki many times after attempting to get back to studying but then get lazy and dont. I even re-organized the check many times, filtering decks to begin studying and then dont. point is, the shit was synced many times over the past 2 weeks..

I downloaded anki again after resetting my computer and tried logging in through ankihub tab to get back my deck and it said something about combining decks which I didn't really read cuase I figured it was normal and then I download it and it had way less reviews. I was backlogged like 9k+, but now the reviews were at 2k. I don't know what happened and my anki web portal synced to that exact setting.

I knew for a fact it was 9k because earler in the day by chance I checked my phone and syned to see how much work was due. Then I tried syncing with my phone to a backup from 5 days ago that was in preferences in the phone and then it was all fucked up with filtered decks from months back. so the backups were all messed up and were not corresponding to the dates it said it backed up. I know that for a fact since what popped up was material I covered back in december even though the date said 5 days ago.

last resort i had an ipad I had synced a few days ago which I didn't touch, so I was able to force a one way sync to ankiweb. From there I synced to computer, and things seem normal? but I have no way of knowing and no clue wtf was going on with all the backups failing.

Did I do the right steps? what the fuck just happened

Does ankiweb have previous sync history for me to go through like the manual ones that save onto your computer? I dont see anywhere on ankiweb/hub that allows me to see a history of sync progress.

Essentially I am trying to figure out what to do after Step 1.

I am following the new tagged system as explained here: https://community.ankihub.net/t/what-are-the-only-step-1-2-tags-faq/588225 which will remove about 16k cards, that easily reduced my burden (Rather than doing the step 1 tag-step 2 tag, which only would remove 9k - idk what specifics makes that much less).

However, I am conflicted if I should suspend them only or reset them completey, since there is a chance many are still gonna pop up during step 2 prep as a by product, or as my wanting to refresh some concepts, etc.

I can image this will create issues with FSRS as well if I don't reset and end up revisiting the cards.

Any advice would be appreciated or how you yourself handled it and if it paid off.

ALSO: What about pharm/micro? did you keep all cards for those? I see this tagged method removes alot of pharm off the bat, like literally most.
