Any tips on how to repair/fix this spot?

Our radon levels are too high in our bedrooms. Every single time that we ask our landlord for repairs or maintenance, he states that he would “hate to raise our rent” or that “other people would pay more.” He’s asking us to split the cost of radon mitigation with him. Is there anything we can do? We are on a month to month lease, so we get nervous about him finding other tenants. We have been here for 5 years and been perfect tenants.
