Panicked at swim first event
I’ve been training for 10months for an IM. Did a triathlon event of 750m, 36km bike en 10km run today, to get some transition experience. But I panicked in the swim, couldnt catch the flow as breathing was not working out due to the panick with all the mass and a vary narrow river. Had to do breaststroke. Tried to get back in flow but didnt succeed in calming my breathing, distance was too short. Few days earlier I did a non stop 3.8km openwater swim, so I’m able to swim. Am I fked for my IM in a month? I have another event next week, hope I dont panick there. What are tricks or things I can learn to prevent this? If I’m calm I can swim long in flow. Or what to do if this panicks occurs? My bike and run went amazing and ready for an IM.
