My story is pretty lengthy. So first I'll cut to the chase and simply ask, what can I do if the counsil in my area is refusing to take my room to the brick despite having excessive levels of mould throughout my room?
I've had two surveyors come out and say "scrap the whole room" but the council just wants to do a "wash"
Any advice with regards to UK law about mould and health standards would be greatly appreciated.
If you want some background here is my story. So roughly around October of 2025, my bedroom developed some really nasty mould that spread across the bottom of my windowside wall very quickly, my bed is up against that wall, and it wasn't until it started to appear on the ceiling, did I notice it. When I tried to get some of the storage boxes from under my bed, I noticed that my walls would be literally black and moist. I called the council in my area (North Wales) and they were pretty much none responsive for months, they finally came to see my property after a long wait.
I haven't started getting any symptoms at that point. I've spent a long time around mould in the past with not even a sniffle, until recently, I don't have any congestion or respiratory symptoms, but the brain fog an ADHD like symptoms have come on thick and fast to the point that I am forgetting to put things away. Simple things like forgetting to put bottle tops back on their containers or leaving food half done. My memory and focus has always been a strong trait of mine, but now I am barely functional. In the last week, I'm barely able to finish a thought or task before moving on to the next one.
I developed light and sound sensitivity last year, and a bunch of eye floaters out of nowhere that I am now thinking might be connected. Aside from the ADHD like symptoms, I don't feel bad. Just like my mind is scattered, I'm not struggling to breathe. I don't have any more fatigue than usual and I don't wake up to dry eyes or a cough. It's mainly neurological, but it's been very sudden.
My worry is I live in a really small house with my mum who has dementia, there is nowhere i can go or stay at the minute, This is the only room or place I have.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks for reading!
