Hey everyone,
I’m shooting a short film in 1–2 days max, and the main goal is efficiency: get as many usable takes/angles as possible while still keeping a professional cinematic look.
We potentially have access to 2 cameras:
- Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K
- Sony A7 IV
The idea was maybe running both cameras at the same time and using a ColorChecker to match colors in post.
Lens setup:
Blackmagic:
- 16mm
- 25mm
Sony:
- 50mm f/1.8
- 70mm photography lens
My concerns:
- Will matching the footage become a headache because of the different sensors/look?
- Is the Sony going to look “too sharp/digital” next to the Blackmagic?
- Does using two cameras actually save time on a low-budget short, or does it create more problems in editing/lighting continuity?
- If you had to pick ONLY ONE camera for a cinematic short film, which would you choose and why?
We’re aiming for something narrative/cinematic rather than commercial or YouTube-style.
Would really appreciate advice from people who’ve mixed these systems before or shot fast-paced indie shorts.
