Just got a 20x20 slab poured last August. Went through the winter and now every inch of it is spalling. I called the contractor and he tried to claim it was salt or the sealer was bad. Meanwhile I never used salt once. His idea is to grind the top layer off and see how it looks or add 2” over the already existing pad. He also mentioned maybe it was the mix but that’s hard to prove since no other pad did and the concrete company would never admit it.

He made it seem like he wanted me to pay again. I’m not thinking I should have to pay a cent. Sounds like bad craftsmanship.

Thoughts on what should be done to fix this? My worry is if he adds another 2” who is to say the bottom bad he attached it to won’t fail early or have both layers shift.
