Hi all,

I’ll preface this with saying I am 18 weeks FTM. I am in weird limbo as I’ve just been handed over to my midwife team from my GP but haven’t yet met the team or been given any contact numbers. If this persists tomorrow I’ll go get it checked out but I am just wondering if anyone has felt the same or if I’m overthinking.

Since about six weeks in I’ve been on Zofran and also regularly take stool softeners and when the constipation has got so bad I’ve felt/been sick I’ve taken lactulose to ‘clear out’. It has been difficult to decide whether I prefer the constipation or the nausea but have settled on taking the meds and having a break to get the bowels moving if need be. it’s been up and down but I’ve managed so far.

Last week (week 17) I’ve been nauseous non-stop and haven't had many bowel movements and sorry if it’s TMI but those I have had were difficult and minimal. I have taken stool softeners every day and two teaspoons of lactulose every day too but NOTHING. Nothing is moving and I’ve got this heavy sensation similar to when you have a tampon not sitting right. It’s a heaviness in my pelvic area behind the pubic bone. I’m wondering if this is just where I will ‘feel constipation now’ since baby is moving up and things are rearranging inside?

It’s not painful in the slightest but is uncomfortable like I’ve got something poking around in there. Sometimes I’ve read it could be baby in breach kicking about or totally normal due to stretching and general pregnancy constipation.

I guess I’m looking for reassurance as to whether this is relatively normal given the circumstances or if this sounds alien to you all and it’s something to be concerned about? It’s been on and off for a few days and again not painful, just strange and sometimes uncomfortable.

Thank you! I’m going to try find out my midwife tomorrow but in the meantime any ideas would be amazing.
