My car made a machine-gun like firing noise when I went to start it this morning. It sounds like it's shorting somewhere or something, but I really dont know.

One note: a friend of mine came by two days ago and replace a hose that busted. It was leaking water real bad, so he swapped it out with a new hose. I knew something was wrong, as it over heated just as I pulled it into my driveway. He came by, fixed it. I started the car up twice and it started fine. Then today it sounds like im in the middle of a battlefield firing at the enemy.

The car is a 2000 Subaru outback SOHC 2.5L (?). It has a new battery, fresh coolant and new oil in it. If anybody could help me identify what this is I would really appreciate it. Thank you.

Edit: Doesnt look like i can post the video I took of the sound on here, so im going to create a link if anyone wants to give it a listen. Thanks
