Confused Between Government and IT Sector Job. Al Driven layoffs creating Panic.
Currently working in government R&D with 9 years of experience and at Pay Level 12. I have been interviewing for the last 11 months and have given 15 interviews, but could convert only one offer, and the salary was not lucrative enough to join. Now, I haven't received any interview opportunities since January this year.
Remote jobs, which I was specifically targeting, are mostly disappearing across organizations. Due to AI-driven layoffs, I am always doubtful about how long one can continue in these jobs without getting sidelined. Even in my current job, increments and promotions are not great, and it may become even more difficult in the coming years.
I am doing LLD, HLD, and NeetCode (completed Blind 75, 150, and 250) . All these thoughts are taking a toll on my health, as I keep thinking about them 24x7. Dont know should I continue my current Job or not..
