I have a clarinet concerto competition coming up requiring us to play the 1st movement of an own choice concerto. I am struggling to pick between the Spohr Concerti and possibly the Francaix Concerto. Personally my favourite would be the Francaix Concerto, but am not sure because I only have a 3 month period to learn the piece and traditional competitions being more "favourable" for Classical and Romantic period pieces. On the other hand, I also really enjoy the Spohr Concerti, but am not too sure which of the 4 to pick if I were to - bcs they all sound too nice!!! For context I have performed the Weber Concertos and Copland before.
