In my GTPA practicum now, and getting a preview of the class I'm assigned to.
Getting really drained and tired of the ways that some students remain disrespectful and disruptive, constantly interrupting the lesson, moving out of their chairs and bad-talking to the teacher, refusing to get work done or simply not caring about being there. Nothing is being done to correct this, and we're just told to let it slide. On the bright side, I know none of them will be among my three focus students for my report since they will consistently won't have any work for me to use as evidence.
I'm dreading ever wanting to fill the need for more male teachers if this is what I'm gonna be thrown into after graduating. That being said, which countries are teachers actually respected at least across a wider swathe compared to here in Australia? And which would also have a generally good quality of life to balance out their job? Not asking for perfect, just asking for what's better out there and has the bare minimum set for us future educators. I'm adaptable, but I don't have patience that crosses over into passivity. Should I simply bite the bullet and too accept that this is the best that we can do? Or am I being too idealistic and asking for too much? /rant over
