I’ve seen people used the counter argument of Stefan not saving damon from the Augustine trials as a way to deflect the criticism of Damon not saving Stefan from the safe. One thing thays different is that Stefan and Damon were never on good terms for more than a year max if were generous. They lived their own lives in hatred of each other and the last time Stefan had let Damon into his life after Damon had convinced Stefan to drink was during ww2 or so. And then Damon left him at the train station. Which I know is because Lexi left him so I won’t hold it against him. But the fact is that it caused another rift. So during this time why would Stefan know he’s being tortured? Let me know if you also think it’s dumb or not
