Has anyone had experience getting reimbursed by American Airlines after a delayed bag when literally ALL your clothes/toiletries were in it?

I got to Jackson Hole, WY this afternoon for a hiking/wildlife photography trip and AA delayed my checked bag until tomorrow afternoon’s flight in (I have no idea how this happened, my bag was Priority tagged and everything). I had basically nothing with me besides what I wore on the plane, so I had to buy essentials for the next 24+ hours.

The issue is… Jackson is expensive, and a lot of the stores here are outdoorsy brands. I bought reasonable/practical things (underwear, socks, leggings, warm jacket, hiking-related set and a pair of hiking boots, toiletries, etc.) but the receipts still added up quickly because it was places like outdoor outfitters (Patagonia etc) instead of Walmart/Target.

Has anyone had AA actually reimburse higher-priced essentials in a situation like this? Did they partially reimburse, deny certain items, or cover everything?

Would love to hear real experiences before I submit the claim. Today has been chaotic and I’m trying to ease some of my anxiety since I’ve never run into this before.
