3/8" vs. 5/8" basalt for garden floor?
Newbie gardener here. Pulling out a section of lawn in favor of raised beds for food production. I fell in love with the look of decomposed granite around raised beds...but then learned that it's not available out here on the West Coast. I want something firm and as compacted as possible so we can use a wheelbarrow or cart reasonably easily. The choices are down to a 3/8' clean or a 5/8' clean. The rock is dark basalt (yuck) but I don't really have much choice. There is a 5/8" grey, I suppose, if we end up with that size and want to wait for it to be ordered. What say you, Reddit garden experts? Will 5/8" or 3/8" create a more compacted and firm "flooring" for our garden area?
