Do mild narcolepsy symptoms get worse over time?
I recently went to a doctor’s appointment, and they immediately put me on the waiting list for a sleep study. I’m still undiagnosed, but doctor think I might have narcolepsy because of a symptoms I’ve been experiencing.
First, I sometimes experience cataplexy triggered by excessive laughter. It doesn’t happen very often (twice a year at most). Luckily, It happens when I'm at home.
I also have sleep paralysis fairly regularly, usually about once every two weeks, and sometimes it can happen multiple times in one night (up to three times).
Another major issue is constantly feeling tired regardless of how much I sleep. I think this also affects my ability to focus. I struggle to concentrate on almost anything, and it has become noticeably worse over the last two years.
When I read posts from people who suffer from narcolepsy, many of them seem to have much more severe symptoms than mine. Because of that, I sometimes feel like maybe I’m just being overly sensitive or overthinking this.
Has anyone here had milder symptoms like me before being diagnosed?
