The only time I’ve watched this movie before would’ve been on broadcast television as a kid in the 70’s on my parents wood cabinet Zenith TV. I have always thought of it as just a kid’s movie but really it’s a grand romantic adventure tale.
This movie is beautifully shot, filled with color, incredible costumes, the car is really cool too with polished brass, chrome and wood paneling. Dick Van Dyke and Sally Ann Howes are great together and wildly entertaining.
An appearance by Benny Hill as the Toymaker added to the fun as well. I loved this movie and have now learned that it’s based on a book by Ian Fleming. Also to my pleasant surprise I learned that Dick Van Dyke is still alive at 100 years old.
