Question from a non-Yoruba follower/member

My girlfriend of three years has repeatedly told me that she received a message from a high ranking member of the religion , a Babalawo (spelling) that explicitly told her "no one in your life will love you."

Now, she implicitly say this was told to her at the initiation or whatever the term is for the Yoruba religion.

Due to this, it seems to have become a self-fulfilling prophecy for her. Views her entire family and myself as people who don't love her, or are "dragging her down" (her words) despite it all just being the ups and downs of interpersonal relationships.

Her and I go up and down, up and down, more than I ever have with another serious partner before. It's disheartening and distressing.

Her daughter and her don't have the best relationship. Her daughter seems to want to stay with her father most of the time.

Anyway, Im reading that a Babalawo is typically someone in a position to offer guidance and hope for spiritual and world prosperity and positivity, and if a warning is given by the gods or goddesses through the Babalawo, it is typically accompanied by some items that the person should stay away from to ensure that a negative thing doesnt happen...not just a negative "curse" for lack of a better word, that the individual must just suck it up and live with it because "that's just how it is."

My own research has led me to the answer that no - a Babalawo would never deliver a message like that with no real solution offered to change it or a list of things to avoid in order so that doesnt happen.

What are your thoughts on this?

I greatly appreciate anything as I'm just trying to figure this out. She has taken that message and carried it close to her heart to the point where its become hard to watch her cry all the time about that without being able to convince her how much she is loved by myself and the family.
