Does it count as a run if you stop for brief walks occasionally?
Settle an ongoing argument I’m having with my partner!
I started running (complete beginner but I walk 45 mins each way to work so do get a decent bit of exercise) about two months ago. I can now run 5k in about 31 mins which is a big improvement and I’m super proud of myself! Even thinking of signing up for a half marathon next year which might be a bit ambitious…
I’d say about 2 or 3 times per run, I’ll slow to a walk for about 20 seconds to have a breather before running again. My partner seems to think that this means I’m not actually running 5k, as apparently the couch to 5k app (which he did) is all about running constantly.
Personally I don’t care, I am so happy with what I’ve been able to do so far, and I’m not going to push myself beyond my limits. But keen to hear what you all think!
