I have rebuilt a couple Miata’s in the past for myself and flipping for a profit as seen in my yt. I have 2 shells left over, the one I’m thinking of using for this project has some frame segments missing from the front and the rear was hit on the right side. So my thought process is cut off rear and front, tube chassis the whole thing and have something very unique if I’m able to accomplish it. I already have a daily ND that I drive all the time this would be a project that would be in the garage until or if ever it gets to the streets.

Some questions if you are knowledgeable…

Im buying the tube bender while my buddy will pick up a welder.

I came to the conclusion that a JMR Manual Tube Bender for $450 is a god choice pair that with a 1.5” OD x 6” CLR Die then their JMR TN-1000 Notcher, bending lube and digital angle finder which should come out to around $1300 before tax.

Material I’m thinking 1.5” 0.120 walls DOM mild steel for everything, would that be fine? Or should I step up to 2in 0.095-0.120 walls for like the main frame tubes? That would mean more expansive material and I’d need another 2in Die…

Any thoughts or resources that would help in my research of this topic really help.
