After finishing all quests in early access we decided to sail to the edge of the map to see what's there. Slight spoilers: you get a warning that you have to leave the waters or die. Some time after our ship suddenly sunk, but we were in fact still alive thanks to... TOO ANGRY TO DIE! The death timer never restarted, so we were free to roam these seas.
So we decided to do what any good pirate would do, get in our trusty boat and keep going.
After we reached the black it still kept going, so we decided to call it there and teleport back to the comfort of our base.
PS: no special fish to be caught over the edge.
