Best and worst part of each game?
For funger 1 and termina what would you guys consider to be the best and worst aspect of each of those games? Could be gameplay, characters, lore, music whatever.
For funger 1 the best part of the game for me is without a doubt the atmosphere, the dungeons of fear and hunger are genuinely unnerving the area itself feels hostile, mahabre is eerie and off putting but also somewhat tranquil. The game is much smaller but the areas it does have, have so much more weight to them. Termina areas do not feel as impactful. Sure places like the church or orphanage are great but random city street east or the 3rd layer of the woods are very underwhelming.
The worst part of funger 1 for me is the Last stand bug?(the one where enemies can attack after you kill them) its part of the learning curve and can definitely be played around but for a lot of the enemies it just feels kind random. for the ghoul? makes perfect sense. For the guard and lord of flies? It just feels spiteful? Usually this type of thing only applies if you get a lucky attack and hit the head(or used a bear trap) if you beat these enemies the "intended way" you typically would take no damage anyway but if you got a lucky headshot or brute forced the torso then you will get hit. And in funger 1 you typically cannot allow even a single attack to go through for a lot of the enemies. If this was at least telegraphed better, I'd be okay with it but it feels very inconsistent.
For termina by far the best part of the game is the cast. Having 14 contestants and all of them being memorable is a true feat. Funger 1 is great but your playthroughs will usually feel pretty similar(avoid all combat till you can kill everything consistently). But termina has a huge amount of variation based on who you decide to play as. Daan can take more hits due to healing whispers, Olivia has a harder early game due to wheelchair, Osaa doesn't hit a power spike when you first get a gun. Like each character is just different enough that they feel fresh. And the game does a lot with the characterization each person gets. Caligura has like 4 interactions in the entirety of the game and thats all we need to despise his ass.
The worst part of termina without a doubt is the head mechanic. This is way too similar to experience(It basically is xp) and I should not be looking at the horrors in prehevil and be thinking oh boy here I go killing again. Enemies dropped stuff in funger 1 but generally combat wasn't super rewarding. You could kill all the guards but do you really need your 5th meat cleaver? Termina got me excited to shoot up a school which is not something anyone should be looking forward to. Not to mention that grating sfx, how long the animation takes and the rng nonsense that the bonsaw can feel like. It's kinda a necessary evil because of the sheer amount of skills I guess but ultimately making killing so rewarding detracts from the fear part of fear and hunger
What do you guys think? what do you like/hate about the two games? Will the update drop before gta6? Tell me what you think down below!
