Dear fur doctors. I would appreciate your input on a possible side effect of Apoquel in dogs and if you've encountered anything like this before
We have a 4 year old Airedale Terrier. Went onto apoquel a few months ago.
We're aware of the usual vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, loss of appetite etc. She only exhibited some appetite loss but none of the others. Now the thing we're wondering is if it could cause increased anxiety and aggression? She started barking more (not aggressive / warning / demand barking, more an anxious/ stressed bark), struggles to down regulate more, restlessness, high alert but also more aloof (read as does give a flying fuck about us when calling her). A lot of these are adjacent to each other and could probably be summed up as 'anxious'. The aggression is also concerning - she's never been good with small dogs despite lots of socialisation but it feels like some bigger small ones who usually would not have been a problem get a rise out of her nowadays.
Are we barking up the wrong tree or have you also noted similar symptoms? Is it coincidence /correlation / causation?
We've stopped the apoquel now to see but it's early days, and will speak to our vet soon but wanted your thoughts too.
