Has anyone meaningfully reduced the time from approved design → machine-ready production in a high-mix custom shop?
For high-mix, low-volume custom fabrication shops, has anyone successfully reduced the engineering/programming time between design approval and machine-ready production?
Specifically curious about:
- CAD → CAM automation
- Auto-generated G-code/toolpaths
- Automatically generating machine instructions from designs
- Reducing programmer bottlenecks in custom work
Would love to hear what software/workflows have actually worked in practice vs marketing hype.
