I am 6.5 months PP and currently pumping 4 times a day. I am holding onto 6-8 pounds of what I assume is flab and water weight. I have been working out consistently since January and can see the muscle tone return, but it’s covered in a layer of squishiness.

Was anyone able to lose weight reducing the number of PPD rather than fully weaning? We have a Europe trip in about six weeks and I would love to fit in my regular clothes by then (and not have to deal with pumping while my baby is jet lagged), but of course I am feeling very guilty about fully weaning for what feels like a selfish reason. I will say my goal was six months of pumping and we have made it there.

Our baby (6.5 months) has been an excellent sleeper (8 hours with no wakes/feeds by 8 weeks; 11-12 hours by 12 weeks). She was in the Snoo until we moved her to her crib at 5.5 months. We have had some hiccups with night wakings since then. She still usually does sleep through the night (7:00pm - 5:45ish), but I have a few questions about how to handle the nights where she has a wake up. It’s only ever one wake up that requires attention. She goes to daycare so nap timing can be inconsistent, but she usually gets 2.5-3.0 hours total with a final wake window of 2.75-3.5 hours depending on the day (usually the latter).

  1. We are waiting at least 20 minutes for a visit. Is that too long? Should we go with the shorter Ferber intervals? She often puts herself to sleep again after 10-15, and we want to give her a chance to do that.

  2. She hasn’t needed a feeding overnight since 8 weeks. Should we be offering a bottle when she wakes later in the night? I’m worried about starting bad habits in that regard, but maybe she’s hungry? She is very petite, a 2nd percenter for weight.

Thanks for any feedback!
