Can my small business be a big plus for my resume?

So just finished sophomore year in MECHE, since senior year of highschool I started a basic window+gutter cleaning business. I do it because I hate part time minimum wage jobs and I haven’t gotten an internship.

The thing is idk how much impact this would help me in my resume I obviously include it. The job itself is not related to engineering but I obviously can talk about other aspects.

Like time management, people management (have 3 other college employees ) , pricing , clientele etc etc.

I also don’t want to quit it either, it’s at the point now where I have good systems and consistent clients that I make way more money compared to a regular part time and a engineering internship over the summer.

What do you think ? , because if I do get an internship offer junior year should I even take it? Assuming I get offered one

Genuine question : why are finals worth 40-50-60% of the final grade?

Just finished finals and got my grades back, passed everything so I’m fine. But it’s making me question why the final grades are normally in those percentages.

It should be either two ways, either make the final 20% or even less or forego everything else and make the final anywhere from 80-100% of the grade.

Because if you had a student who has 100% before finals, this person clearly understands the material , aced midterms and homework’s but could still fail the class?.

And the argument of “oh if you fail the final then you didn’t learn the material” is so stupid, circumstance matters and test anxiety is real. And again that wouldn’t apply to someone who already had a good grade beforehand.

Because say 100% for this example, it would make the professors life easier with only grading one thing, and students use homework as learning guides instead of a deadline. Would make the final stressful yes but it would solve the issue of students being constantly depressed lol.

And for the example of 20% if you beforehand had a 100 and say you bombed it you still end with a B-.

I honestly prefer how other countries do it , either make it 20% or less or make the final 80-100%.

I don’t see a legit benefit for either students or professors when it’s 40-50-60%. Besides an advantage for the college so it’s more likely you fail and have to pay more money to graduate even though you understood the material.

Maybe I’m missing a big factor in this , please tell me what it is. Especially if you were once a TA or professor

Edit: guys the point of the post was to see the benefit of your final being 40-50-60% of the final grade compared to 20% or 100%. A few people have answered that and I’m glad they did. But a lot of you are being caught on the “bad test taker part” or think I’m just complaining. Which wasn’t the true point of the post

I’m in college and been working part time in highschool and now. The quality of these part time jobs man are crazy. Why is there so much BS I have to deal with.

16-18. Worked at a Dunkin , minimum wage but I liked the job. Until I got constantly taken advantage because I’m the only dude. People would genuinely stop working because they knew I was good at my job and knew why I was doing. And when I complained I caused “drama” and was not a team player.

Everyone was honestly chill for awhile but after the 1st year shit started going downhill. A example is when someone called out and NO ONE picked up the shift including me but they expected me to. So they fucking called me when she didn’t show and said I’ll get a write up if I don’t go now.

18-19. Worked as a line cook, minimum wage. This job sucked. Was working way too hard to minimum wage and for some reason the older customers didn’t like me even though I don’t talk to anyone. (Small local resultant with consistent customers). Some old lady lied and said I punched a microwave when I did not and it got me fired.

20-present. Sales job. More pay and job itself is boring but not bad. But they have tried to fuck me over a few times. With paychecks , how many leads I generated , how far I drove for mileage etc etc.

Like all I want is a simple consistent part time job with consistent hours and pay without being used as a slave.

I’m so done and yes I can’t wait to full time , saying shit doesn’t get better I beg to differ. Constantly pulling all nighters being of engineering major and shitty as part time jobs.

Even if I don’t like my full time job (hopefully I get one after grad) I at least will be paid more.

Edit: couple grammar mistakes my bad

I have zero motivation now and basically burned out.

Took all of my last midterm exams last week and 95% done with all final projects. 1 due Thursday and 2 due may 3rd.

Only real thing left is finals which are all in mid may from the 11-15th.

I got almost zero incentive to go to class anymore and so done lol. Can we hurry this up please 😂

I was just curious. This applys to everything , art , sports , music etc. where do these abilities come from.

Because you see examples of people being naturally good at something while their parents are terrible so it looks random at the surface.

I’m not big in genetics so I wouldn’t know.

But for example take track and field. Track and basketball are the 2 sports where if you’re not naturally talented you’re not getting far past high school.

You’ll see some random 15 year old run a 11.1 100m first try and some random kid have a 43 inch vert with no extensive training whatsoever.

What’s more confusing is skills. Like in football (American) some people are naturally good at catching or can throw a football 60 yards at 14.

Like where does this shit come from 😭.

If anyone knows specifics on this topic please comment.
