Reducing inositol?

Question: Has anyone found that as IR improves, they need a lower dose of inositol?

Context: I’m currently taking 4g of inositol (split up 2x per day) and 1500mg metformin. I don’t have ANY side effects, and since I started eating low glycemic, weight has fallen off. I’ve lost about 23lb since January, with a goal of only like 5-10 more depending how my body feels when I get there. My 2hr oral Glucose and insulin test showed my insulin as more than double what it should be at the 1hr mark. I have more labs to see if diet has improved this next month.

Prior to diet change, I started inositol (but only 2g) and it brought back my periods. Yay! When I started low GI diet in January, I bumped up to 4g. Now they are “regular” at about 30-35 day cycles, but I’ve been getting mid cycle bleeding. I’m assuming it’s ovulation bleeding. I am not TTC, and on nexplanon (I cannot take estrogen BC as I have a BRCA risk). I’ve never had mid cycle bleeding before, but since I started low GI diet, the last 3 cycles have had it.

I also had a hemorrhagic functional complex cyst land me in the ER a few weeks ago because it was leaking blood into my abdomen. I have a follow up with gyn to monitor to make sure it’s going away.

I’m thinking about reducing inositol to 2 or 3g per day. Has anyone found that as IR improves, they need a lower dose of inositol? I expect my endocrinologist will lower my metformin if my labs support a lower dose, but he is not well versed on inositol (though did say gynos recommend it). I will be speaking with my gyno when I go to the follow up for the cyst (it’ll be my first visit with her, I was previously only seeing pcp and endocrinologist), but this breakthrough bleeding is quite annoying.

Just wondering if anyone’s experienced the need to reduce inositol as symptoms improve! Thank you 💕
