Joining two pieces in a purl row

(Reposted so I can add the pattern)

I am knitting a stuffed elephant I am trying to join a front leg to the body piece in a purl row and I cannot figure out how to purl the stitches off the spare needle while following the pattern and keeping the wrong side facing me. Here is how the pattern reads:

I am stuck on the part of the pattern marked with the red dot. It reads: With WS facing p8 from spare needle of Left Front Leg p18, with WS facing pll from spare needle of Left Back Leg.
(37 sts)

I somehow need to purl the far right side of the front leg first but I cannot figure out how to orient the stitches/ needles in a way that makes sense.

Help joining two pieces in a purl row.

I somehow need to purl the far right side of the leg first but I cannot figure out how to orient the stitches/ needles in a way that makes sense. Chat gpt told me to rotate the work 180 degrees but then the work faces upwards instead of downwards and I feel like it’s upside down.
