Young adult here- I've been enjoying AC for a while now, and I keep hearing about how influential they were in the indie music world, with some people even going as far as describing 2000s & 2010s indie as having "pre-AC and post-AC" phases, fundamentally saying that AC changed indie music forever. Unfortunately, I was too young to experience that change firsthand (I was barely 2 when Merriweather Post Pavilion came out), so im really just curious, what was it like when AC came onto the scene? Were they really this leading zeitgeist of 21st century indie, and how specifically did they influence those who came after them?
