Would someone break down the Hierarchy for me?
I (47F) was basically a kid during my years as a JW. So basically the 80s & 90s. My parents weren’t “good JW” meaning we went out in service sometimes and to a ridiculous amount of meetings and Bible studies but neither of them were ever assigned a title. I remember there were the Elders and hearing about pioneers and such. Having to do householder “talks” and what not. I remember when the Circuit Overseer came around it was a BIG DEAL. But I also remember never being allowed to have posters or ANYTHING that made it seem I was idolizing. I remember the big thing was at the time - “we are so very different from religions of the world because we don’t have priests or any ONE person because we are “ALL servants of Jehovah.” At the time all I really knew was that the Watchtower and Awake were publications but never understood that it came from a group of publishers (ie a group of men - not actual god). Looking back, I feel I was naive. But if I’m being kind to myself, why would I have thought any differently?
So what’s the unwritten and unspoken hierarchy? Governing body, then….?
