I grew up in a shoe free household and have always felt that it’s best in my own spaces and have respectfully asked roommates, partners, guests to remove their shoes but it’s such a huge ask in the US. Like most places I’ve lived have been wood so of course when hosting I don’t make a big deal and can clean the floors after, BUT I’m moving into a new house with roommates and it is ALL carpet and I think shoes inside are disgusting and our house even has an entry way that is below the stairs into the home anyway that naturally makes sense for shoe removal. Why is this such a dumb ass western cultural issue?
