Is this the best year that the Scottish sides have had in terms of blooding youth in a long time? Glasgow and Edinburgh have done a great job this year of getting the young guys involved. In terms of pro contracts you’ve got;

Glasgow
- Kerr Yule
- Johnny Ventisei
- Fergus Watson
- Kerr Johnston
- Seb Stephen
- Matthew Urwin
- Jack Oliver
- Maccenzie Duncan

Edinburgh
- OBL
- JBL
- Jack Brown
- Hector Patterson

Furthermore, Freddy Douglas, Liam McConnell, OBL and Gregor Hiddlestone have properly established themselves at club level as regulars.

Signing a whole back line in one year is pretty exceptional business to me, especially as at the start of the year I feel like the forwards were the strong suit, and backs were the main concern. Without discussing the recruitment strategy going on at Glasgow, it has to be said they’ve done very well with their academy.
