Does anyone have any experience with making a complaint with the labour board for cash jobs?
I took a job as a courtesy to help a friend where they stated I’d be paid but I was severely underpaid for my time and I believe they were being vague about it since the beginning to get me to agree to it knowing they were going to rip me off. It was within one of the catholic elementary schools in town and she told me to talk to her principal if I had any complaints.
My biggest issue is that they paid me through e-transfer and never had me do a background check or sign any forms.
I feel stupid for thinking my friend would put me in this position so I understand I’m also at fault. So I’ve learned my lesson but I’d like to be able to get a decent amount for my work and time.
The principal never even bothered to meet me at this time so I don’t have her contact information but I’m in the process of trying to get it from the former friend.
So I guess my question is will I be able to file a complaint with the labour board or should I go to the Catholic school board?
