Zooble and Kinger have no mouths. When Bubble’s mouth is open, you see more of the surface of the bubble. Ragatha‘s mouth and Gangle’s mouth are both 2 dimensional. Jax’s teeth are perpetually closed unless he screams or chokes. Abel‘s mouth is drawn on. Gummigoo has no throat cavity. Caine has no throat.
Also, Ragatha and Gummigoo are the only characters with noses.
I feel like everyone just started spinning off the wildest theories about this sequence immediately, when it’s just classic Gooseworx chaos. If you watch her other animations, that’s abundantly clear, she just likes weird visuals. Also, it always seemed to be theories about this one shot where Pomni and Jax get crushed by bowling balls, Gangle and Ragatha get splattered by cakes, and Kinger gets thrown off a chess board. It baffles me why this shot SPECIFICALLY has so many “it’s secretly foreshadowing” theories when there are barely any for far more interesting/eventful shots in Intermission Time. Everyone seems so hyper-focused on this one shot in particular, just because???
The fact that like 90% of Intermission Time is Caine and Bubble antics, both of whom are now dead, and the fact that none of those antics ended up being foreshadowing is such a clear indicator that Intermission Time is meant to be taken at face value. It’s an intermission. The series is nine episodes long, so midway through episode 5 is the halfway point of the show, therefore: an intermission.
It’s just like the “we‘ll be right back after these messages” joke from the same episode. The joke there was Bubble making an unhinged, funny noise. People were convinced it was Morse code somehow, and several people decoded it into wildly different sentences (due to confirmation bias.) Then Gooseworx shared how she engineered that audio, and it was just a heavily roboticized version of her making a funny noise.
I wish theorizing for TADC could just be theorizing about the characters and their arcs. That’s the core of this show, it’s a character drama, and the actual lore isn’t even very complex or important. I don’t know why people insist it’s got some Gravity Falls level of hidden clues when it just fucking doesn’t.
