The new Model 3 Premium RWD at $39,490 CAD is obviously a very strong price, but I’m wondering if Tesla might still have another cheaper version coming later.
My reasoning:
- In the US/Europe, Tesla has offered a base/standard Model 3 below the Premium RWD-type trim.
- Shanghai already builds and exports the base/standard Model 3 for Europe, so the supply chain/production side does not seem impossible.
- The agreement between Canada and China says
>With this agreement, it is also anticipated that, in five years, more than 50% of these vehicles will be affordable EVs with an import price of less than $35,000, creating new lower-cost options for Canadian consumers.
So my speculation is:
Tesla may sell the $39,490 Premium RWD first while demand is hot, then later introduce a cheaper Standard/base Model 3, maybe something around $35k, not immediately, but potentially around the next quota period.
What do you think? Is this realistic, or is $39,490 probably the floor for Canada?
