[EDIT: I’m asking about the Tiffany SETTING STYLE, not the actual Tiffany - we don’t have that kind of money lol]
(1st and 2nd picture is a 2ct Tiffany setting. I added all the other pictures just to show the other shapes with their carat weight (I forgot the weight of marquis, sorry!). For reference, I’m a ring size 5.25)
Hello! My boyfriend (25m) of 5 years and I(24f) have been ring shopping and looking around for quite some time.
I’ve been dreaming of my dream ring for years as we always knew we’d get married but wanted to wait through college. The first year out of was a little unstable with our jobs due to market just being horrible. Fortunately, we both found steady and permanent jobs, so we’re finally circling back to getting engaged! (Yay!!)
Though through the years I’ve always dreamed about an elongated cushion cut that’s 1.5-2.5 cts on a solitaire band in white gold. But recently when we went window shopping, he told me he likes the look of a round cut on a solitaire. He says it looks classy and timeless, and that he was planning to get that. At first I was a little heart broken (not entirely), but as soon as I put on a round, my jaw dropped. People are NOT joking when people say it SHINES! It is so sparkly that I fell in love instantly!
I agree that a round is traditional for a reason, and that I do prefer to look timeless as well. But my concern is the setting.
In all my research, I was only ever looking at the best support for an elongated cushion cut, never round.
So now that I’m looking at the round, is the Tiffany setting supportive enough? I’m scared of there not being a gallery for a 1.5-2 ct round stone, but I see this setting out all the time.
Is it a really a big concern? How are other people’s experience with this setting?
For context, I’m a special education teacher at a middle school. I do resource, not SLC, so I’m not dealing with toileting support or physical needs for my students. I’m also definitely not NOT clumsy, but I’m also not falling on my face everyday.
Please help me out. The Tiffany setting seems to make the stone sparkle more than if there was a gallery. Help a girl out.
