I'm 21, just finished my film degree at USC a year early, and my family is supporting me through a gap year before I figure out whether to go into the workforce or pursue grad school.

I have a loose plan so far — studying French for a couple months, then heading to Essen (Spiel) in October to help promote a board game — but the rest of the year is wide open.

Would love to hear from people who've been through it:

  • What did you wish you'd done but didn't?
  • What did you actually do that you're still grateful for?
  • Anything you spent time on that felt productive but turned out to be a waste?

Not looking for a "perfect plan," just real experiences. What would you tell your gap year self?
