I’m having a really hard time deciding between University of California, Berkeley and University of California, Davis.

My family really wants me to choose Berkeley because of the prestige/name recognition. They believe graduating from Berkeley could lead to better job opportunities and a higher salary.

But personally, I’m leaning toward Davis because the people seem friendlier, and the overall vibe feels more chill and less intense. I also know Berkeley is on the semester system while Davis is on the quarter system, so I’d love to hear thoughts on which one feels more stressful/manageable.

Here are the things I care about most when choosing a college:

  1. Campus vibe — I don’t want an overly competitive environment
  2. Quality of teaching/professors
  3. Career opportunities after graduation
  4. Ease of making friends / social life

If you’ve attended either school (or know people who have), I’d really appreciate hearing your experiences, advice, or anything you wish you knew before choosing. Please comment or DM me — thank you!
