Should I have taken this baby opossum to a wildlife rehab?

Should I have taken this baby opossum to a wildlife rehab?

Saw this lil guy at a park in Kitsap County, WA. He looked healthy and alert, and tried to act a little tough when I walked up to it haha but also it was very small. Small enough to fit in the palm of my hand probably. I ended up leaving him be as he trekked away and into the blackberry bushes. No mom was in sight, but I don’t know if that necessarily means it was orphaned.

For future reference, would this size/age baby opossum be ok on its own or should I take it into the wildlife center? If the mother isn’t in sight, does that mean it’s likely to have been abandoned? I’ve read that opossums don’t really seem to care if they lose a baby and don’t go looking for them if they do. TIA!
