Hello there,
I’m not 100% sure how to approach this situation. I’m supposed to be out of my current apartment by June 1st. My bathroom has had a wet floor around it and it sounded kinda squelchy, so I brought it to my landlord, to my surprise she had people come in immediately to come look at the bathroom (not a problem at all, I get it) but, now we’ve been told that we cannot use our shower until further notice, and we must ask to go upstairs and use our landlords shower, and I’m not sure how comfortable I am doing this as I am a very small, vulnerable queer person. My partner also works late nights and likes to have a shower to wind down after work and our landlord goes to bed considerably earlier than us. I understand how much of a problem mold can be, and how much of a problem the shower could be, but we’re supposed to be out in less than a month and now we can’t use our shower, and we aren’t sure how long this will be going on or when it will begin. I’m just asking for some advice as I’m not sure how to approach this as we need to have a good landlord reference, and we don’t want to piss her off by asking to still use the shower. My secondary concern is that I have two VERY skittish indoor only cats, and having the construction people in and out with the door constantly open is a HUGE concern for me, because if my cats get out, they will not survive, they will find somewhere to hide and we would most likely never find them again. I am nervous about putting my cats safety in jeopardy and I am also not insanely comfortable going into another persons apartment to shower that i’ve only known a year as my landlord. She hasn’t mentioned any sort of compensation at all, and in my opinion, I feel like we should get some sort of compensation but I have no idea. I’m not sure if this is the right place to ask this question and if you’ve gotten this far, please give any advice as I am in need.
