Hi r/Artisticallyill,
Living with IBS for years has been one of the most isolating experiences of my life. The constant need to disappear, the invisibility, the way your body feels both painfully present and strangely absent from the rest of the world. I wanted to turn that feeling into art.
So I created this art project called Movements. Each piece draws from different art historical references — reductive Italian painting, Mexican figuration, quiet interiors, and expressive new painting — to explore themes of solitude, silence, hidden endurance, and quiet dignity. They are fashioned as art exhibit posters at well known galleries, which is a commentary on how the art world has almost completely neglected this universal human phenomoneon. The full project is at www.theheavyhour.com
Does the concept resonate? My coworker says its a bad idea. Any feedback on the visual language or overall series is super appreciated.
Thank you for being such a warm, supportive space where we can share work like this 💛
