New here- trying to understand Reddit before Reddit understands me
Hi everyone,
I’m new to Reddit and trying to learn the rules before I accidentally walk into a community, post something innocent, and get removed by AutoMod like I committed a digital war crime.
Most of my work brain is usually busy writing hooks, testing ideas, checking numbers, overthinking headlines, and pretending that “one more creative variation” will finally bring peace to humanity.
I’m from a mountain area, so I’m familiar with uphill struggles, unpredictable weather, and people confidently making bad decisions in inappropriate shoes. This feels oddly useful online.
Outside of work, I hike, run, climb, take photos, and occasionally disappear into places where Wi-Fi is weak but the life decisions are questionable. I’ve also been to Nepal, which taught me that mountains are beautiful, oxygen is underrated, and “just a bit further” is usually a lie.
Now I’m trying to understand Reddit without sounding like I’m here to sell a course from a rented Lamborghini.
What’s the best advice you’d give to a new Reddit user who actually wants to contribute and not annoy everyone immediately?
