Everyone knows about Mount Vesuvius and the history of Pompeii. But I recently looked at a satellite map and realized that the 3 million people of the Naples area are actually caught between TWO volcanic threats: Vesuvius on the east, and the massive Campi Flegrei supervolcano on the west.

With Campi Flegrei recently causing frequent earthquakes and ground uplifting (bradyseism) in towns like Pozzuoli, I am fascinated by the psychology of living there.

For those who live in the "red zones" or the Naples area:

• How often do you actually think about the volcanoes? Is it a daily fear, or completely normalized background noise?
• How do the recent, frequent earthquakes from Campi Flegrei affect your daily life and mental state?
• Do people actually trust the government's mass evacuation plans if one of them decides to blow?
• With all this danger, what makes you stay? What makes life there so good that it's worth the risk?
