What was supposed to be a fun ski vacation honestly turned into one of the most uncomfortable experiences I’ve had at a resort.

On Monday (2026-04-27), I was riding the terrain park and hit a side hit near the rail section. I fell after the hit. While I was down, a guy who later claimed to be ski patrol (though dressed in normal clothes, possibly off-duty) still decided to hit the rail and ended up crashing directly into my back.

At first, I genuinely thought it was just an accident. Stuff happens in terrain parks.

But instead of checking whether I was okay, the very first thing he said was:

“If I see you in the park again, I will revoke your pass.”

Right after that, several of his friends started backing him up and claiming I “cut them off,” which I absolutely did not do. I felt pretty cornered in the moment and just said “okay” before leaving.

A couple hours later, I returned to the park because I honestly didn’t believe I had broken any rule.

That’s when I started hearing a group of around 3–5 people yelling from the lift things like:

“Get off my fucking park.”

At that point I just left because I didn’t want the situation escalating.

The next day (Tuesday, 2026-04-28), after researching terrain park etiquette and Palisades’ own park policies, I became even more confident that I had not violated any published rule.

So I returned to the park again.

After a few runs, the same group once again started yelling:

“Get off the park.”

That’s when I realized this no longer felt like a misunderstanding. It felt like harassment and intimidation.

I waited near the park entrance, and eventually the group came by again. I confronted them directly and said:

“You want my pass revoked? Stay here and let’s call a ski patrol supervisor.”

Suddenly the energy completely changed. They immediately backed off, said “we’re not doing that,” and skied away.

Ironically, on the very next lift ride, an actual ski patrol member in uniform sat beside me. I explained the situation, and after he spoke with them, the harassment stopped.

Later that day I confronted them one final time. They still insisted I had done an “illegal move” by using a side hit, despite side hits not being prohibited anywhere in Palisades’ posted terrain park rules that I could find.

When I asked about the basic responsibility of checking whether a landing/exit is clear before hitting a feature, they completely brushed it off.

They also refused to provide names or employee numbers.

What still bothers me most is not even the collision itself. Accidents happen.

It’s:

  • threatening to revoke a guest’s pass immediately after an accident
  • using employee status to intimidate someone
  • repeated yelling and harassment from a group over two days
  • refusing accountability
  • immediately backing down once an actual supervisor was mentioned

I have videos documenting parts of the situation as well as photos of the individuals involved.

Overall, the entire thing completely ruined what was supposed to be a relaxing ski trip. I lost around 1.5 days of riding because I no longer felt comfortable in the park, and honestly I’m still frustrated thinking about it even after getting home.

Writing this down for myself first so I have a record of what happened at Palisades Tahoe.
