I’m a job lead for my company basically their version of a foreman. I just found out that they gave the apprentices a raise as a whole and that put some of them at making the same amount I do. I’ve been a journeyman for 3 years giving me 7 years of experience total. I was put on probation for 3 months about 6 months ago. My first time being in trouble. It was for taking care of my dying grandmother who I lived with. I was still working 40 hours a week they agreed to let me work 4 10s instead of 5 8s but after she passed they gave me a write up saying I missed 40 days of work. They used the fact that I was scheduled off on Friday’s as missed days, even though I still worked 40 hours a week. Now I understand not making as much as some of the other guys in my same position and experience given that situation. But I feel like it’s absolutely absurd to be making the same as a second year. I have a van and run service calls and run jobs. I’m making 30 an hour. Columbus Ohio. Any input would be greatly appreciated because right now I’m spiraling a bit, and trying to figure out if I should just leave my company. All of my annual reviews have been positive and they’ve never given me any indication that I’m not doing well outside of the situation with my grandmother.
