Symphonic metal albums for springtime?

Today is a beautiful spring day in the San Francisco bay area. The kind of day you throw open the winds and play some records while you do some house chores before going out with some friends to enjoy the sunshine (that's what I'm doing today). For those of you who have seasonal listening habits or associate albums so strongly with seasons of the year, what are your go-to symphonic metal spring listens?

When I think of spring albums, I usually think lighter in tone, easy-breezy feel-good albums. Here are some of mine:

  1. Sirenia - Perils of the Deep Blue (2013), easily one of my favorites by this band, symphonic gothic metal that is both aggressive and incresibly catchy.

  2. Within Temptation - Mother Earth (2000), obviously. Airy, majestic, magical symphonic gothic metal with a lot of folky influences. So nostalgic.

  3. Lunatica - Fables & Dreams (2004), so easily consumable and fun, and so catchy. Perfect for a spring afternoon.

  4. Amberian Dawn - End of Eden (2010), listened to this album a lot in college, reading books in between classes. High energy and nimble operatic symphonic power metal, it's just such an April album to me.

  5. Kells - Lueurs (2008), symphonic nu metal, it goes by fast, and very replayable. The guitar tone is so dense, but the keys, strings, and choirs are so bright. It's perfect for spring.

  6. Nightwish - Once (2004) and Century Child (2002), got Once around my birthday (my birthday is infact in May), and it just has an airiness to it that fits this time of year. Century Child is similar, but more twinkly and higher energy due to its power metal, leanings.

There's definitely a ton more, what are yours?

Springtime gothic metal albums?

Today is a beautiful spring day in the San Francisco bay area. The kind of day you throw open the winds and play some records while you do some house chores before going out with some friends to enjoy the sunshine (that's what I'm doing today). For those of you who have seasonal listening habits or associate albums so strongly with seasons of the year, what are your go-to gothic metal spring listens, and why?

Some records I associate with spring are:

  1. Chalice - Augmented (2003), hyper-melodic gothic doom metal with tons of flute to add airiness. It's so listenable!

  2. Within Temptation - Mother Earth (2000), for obvious reasons: magical sounding symphonic gothic metal with a lot of folk influences.

  3. Tristania - Illumination (2007), No frills gothic metal, it's actually a pretty cold sounding record for spring, but it's so hooky. It's probably because I got it for my 11th birthday (my birthday is in May... next week actually), but I usually find myself spinning it around this time of year.

  4. Evanescence - The Open Door (2006), the orchestra presence is so organic and lush, it just has a bright spring vibe despite being so dark.

  5. Lacuna Coil - Comalies (2002), high energy, so catchy, is another one that I got around my birthday, but to me the production is still very spring-y.

  6. Dreams of Sanity - The Game (2000), flighty and atmospherically very bright and airy symphonic gothic metal. It's a great record to "live in" on repeat.

  7. Amaran - A World Depraved (2002), Pristine in Bondage (2004), yes, both records. This is more of a bonus, because they're not gothic metal albums. They're proggy melodic metal, but I feel like this subreddit would appreciate them. I don't know how to describe it, but they're such May releases to me.

When I think of spring albums, I usually think lighter in tone, easy-breezy feel-good albums, I guess.
